Concept is pretty simple. Closed means Ordered+Paid+Served. If we close ticket#902, it means this ticket has performed all the steps and we no longer need But if Order is not served yet. Like we see in home delivery or drive thru, Our POS shows that status PAID. Customer has done his job. Now when you have served food, login and close the ticket. If a ticket has been pre-auth with tips, then customer may have paid, but ticket cannot be processed until the card has been updated with tips amount and
Today we added a new feature in our code base. Our POS is getting popular in Bars. In 2014 we added Pre-approval / Bar Tab. However it needed better UI. Specially there was no good way to take care of the standees. Eventually we decided to add a Floor for bar tabs.
To activate it check bartab in order type
If its a DINE IN then go to Dine in tab and Click on Group => Select tables => New Tab.

Price on Button
Added option to add price on button. Its very useful as you don't need to their remember price. Price may vary by order type but this is yet to be implemented. You can turn off that feature from Order configuration. Also modifier pricing will be shown. Number in Orange color means that
A new experimental feature has been added to Floreant POS. If you build latest code in subversion you may have already noticed this button at the top. Admin or users with maintenance permission may edit a item/group/cagegory directly in Ticket edit screen. To do this press this "quick maintenance" button and then press desired "Item", "Group" or "Category". If you see no change then re-login.

1-I set up Ubuntu on virtual machine- Trial version of VMware.
